House about that!
Kent woman wins Home Sense competition to have her mortgage paid for a year
When Dee Samways got a phone call telling her she’d won our competition, she thought someone was pulling her leg.“I’m always sceptical about phone calls like that,” says the 56-year-old office administrator from Snodland in Kent, “so I asked them to send me an email to confirm it. When they did, I was shocked as I never win anything. I was over the moon!”
Dee had gone into NatWest to pay in a cheque when she was asked if she’d like to fill in a form that would enter her into the prize draw. At the time, she’d not long downsized to a three-bed, end-of-terrace house – following the departure of her two grown-up children – and had changed from her old fixed-rate mortgage to a new package.
Now, Dee is deciding how to spend the money she’ll save from not having to pay her mortgage. She’s already decided that 75 per cent of it will go on overpayments on her current plan. And the rest? “I quite fancy going somewhere hot,” she beams.
